I’m Kitana, a product designer with a systems-thinking mindset and a sharp eye for detail.
Work
My path into design wasn’t entirely traditional. In 2021 during the height of COVID, I started by teaching myself Figma, and building websites for friends and family, before moving into freelance work. Since then, I’ve worked full-time across product design, website design, design systems and accessibility in the fields of fintech and cybersec.
Before design, I worked in project management within the finance industry. One of the most important qualities it gave me is a structured way of thinking and taught me to look beyond individual problems and understand the bigger system, the people involved and how all the pieces connect while being aware of the small details that matter.
Education
I studied Interaction Design at MOME University of Art and Design, completing my MA building on my elementary art degree. My years at MOME were beyond valuable, giving me a strong foundation in both digital and physical design methodologies while shaping the visual perspective I bring to my work today. Working across different mediums taught me to think carefully about composition, detail, and the relationship between form and function.
Five-to-nine
Outside of work, I write. Storytelling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and writing is my favourite way to escape for a while. I love pulling a story apart and putting it back together again, figuring out how the big arc, tiny details and seemingly insignificant bits of world-building all click into place.
More recently, I got into sourdough. It gets me away from the screen, gives my hands something to do, and most of the time produces something edible. A win-win, really. Also, gluten is freaking awesome.
